First off, thank you so much for taking the time to look at my blog. I hope it provides you with a little more information about me, my goals, and my experience.
I am a Sophmore Marketing major and Communications minor at The College of New Jersey. I have maintained a 3.4 GPA while holding a steady job at the restaurant on campus and at the Colorado Cafe in Watchung, New Jersey and while playing for the Division II Women's Rugby team here at the college. I am very personable and have worked in the service industry for 4 years now where I have put my communication skills to practice.
I plan on finding an internship in advertising or public relations within the year and hope to earn my masters in Marketing or Finance after I graduate in May 2011. Take a look around my blog and be sure to check in occassionally for updates!

My Intentions
My hopes for this blog are to show you more in depth the person I am, what I have accomplished and what I hope to accomplish in the future. Throughout this virtual portfolio you will see my academic endeavors, my extracurricular activities, and work experiences which all support the career and goals I am pursuing. My intent for this blog is to help me find an internship for the school year in the field of advertising or public relations. I greater goal I have for this internship is that it allows for the opportunity to become a paid employee with a longterm career in the company.
Why advertising and public relations? While picking my major I knew I wanted to meet and influence people and make a real difference. I went through many majors and took a couple of basic courses in a few fields of study to get an idea of what I liked and that's how I ended up becoming a Marketing major. I am taking classes with a base in marketing and communcations in hopes of developing a career to utilize my interest in people and communication skills. Advertising and public relations will allow me to work with many different types of people while hopefully making a difference in the world of advertising and thus making a difference in how people view themselves and others.
Feel free to look at my resume and contact me if you have any questions or would like any further information.
Thanks!

Work Experience
For the past 4 years I have developed a strong base in the service industry. I started working at T.G.I. Friday's back in August of 2006 to March 2008 where I was hired as a hostess and shortly after promoted to a server. Currently, I hold jobs at both the Colorado Cafe in Watchung, New Jersey as a server and The Rathskeller at TCNJ as a server and cook. All three of these jobs entail generally the same responsibilities including serving customers in a friendly, safe environment and practicing safe and legal distribution of alcoholic beverages. An additional responsibility that I have taken on at my job at the Rathskeller is cooking where I have learned to prepare food in a clean and safe environment meeting all of Sodexo's standards. I enjoy working at these places because it gives me a better understanding of customer service and I have always been interested in meeting new people.
Extracurricular Activities
In high school I participated in a wide variety of clubs and activities such as National Honors Society (2 years), French National Honors Society (2 years), Performing Arts Company (4 years; executive board position), Tech Crew (4 years), Big Brother Big Sister Program (3 years), and Student Movement Against Cancer (3 years).
Along with these activities a big part of my life was and still is Girl Scouts. I was a member of the Washington Rock Girl Scout Council for 14 years. As a member of troop #74 I accomplished so many things which I take great pride in. I put together a silver award project - a weekend camping excursion for mothers and daughters - as well as a gold award project - a three step program including a pamphlet, a website, and a workshop. to help young women going off to college to take precautions and be safe. On top of these great achievements, my troop and I set an example for the younger girls in our community, as we were the first senior Girl Scout troop ever in Washington Rock history to have all members earn their Gold Award.
In college, I am very active through my Women's Division II Rugby Team. I have been playing for two seasons as of now and have become very involved in the club. I was just elected social chair of the organization and will hold that position until November 2009. As social chair, I will communicate with other sports teams and organizations around campus to plan socials that both groups will attend as well as being in charge of budgets for such events.
If you would like any further information about my extracurricular activities feel free to leave me a message or e-mail.
Thanks!
